Robotis - a true revolution in robotics

Offered by Botland educational kits Robotis, allow you to build interesting robots whose construction is based on intelligent servos controlled in a serial manner. In addition to the standard capabilities of changing positions and the ability to perform continuous rotation, the user is also provided with functions for monitoring the operating parameters of each servo, such as angular position, speed, operating temperature, current draw and operating voltage. The Bioloid kit is designed so that the user can build robotic structures that are diverse from each other. In addition to the widely developed hardware side, the robot comes with a dedicated free GUI software. Bioloid can be used for both teaching, research and development, hobby, and robot competitions. The Bioloid's smaller brother named Darwin-Mini is a robot whose heart is a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M3 processor. Power is provided by a lithium-ion battery. The robot can be programmed via a USB connection. The manufacturer provides dedicated software under an open source license. The built-in Dynamixel XL servos are equipped with a control system that continuously monitors the servo parameters. Bluetooth communication allows programming the robot from a tablet or computer wirelessly. RoboPlus software offers recording and playback of pre-programmed movements with a strictly defined sequence.

Dynamixel - quality, performance and precision in one

Dynamixel is a series of intelligent servos designed to connect the moving parts of robots and the mechanical structure of other devices. The modular design and ability to connect up to 254 units in a Daisy Chain allows you to expand your robot to perform even the most twisted movements. The Dynamixel servo includes an integrated DC motor with gearbox, control circuit, temperature sensor and TTL outputs. The servo is programmable and its operating status can be continuously verified from the data stream. High quality, mechanical robustness and high precision, have been validated by world-class robotics teams from over thirty countries.

Attraction of robot festivals

Robotis of particular interest at robotics fairs and festivals around the world. At the DARPA Robotics Challenge festival, rescue robot competitions are held with 25 teams of roboticists coming from Japan, Germany, USA, Italy and South Korea among others. Among others, Robotis THORMAG robots take part in the competition, whose size is similar to an adult human, which positively influenced the promotion of the event, as well as products from Robotis. The company cooperates with emergency services in many parts of the world. Robotis engines are used, among others, in the rescue robot FUHGA, whose project is being developed at Kyoto University and in a snake-like robot whose task is to monitor industrial plants. This project is under the care of Kanazawa University.

Development directions and expansion in global markets

Robotis' representative for Japan, Yoshihiro Shibata, says that in the current era, Robotis' products are mainly used in the scientific and teaching fields in Japan, but there are also plans to develop the robots' designs and expand their use to consumer purposes. The manufacturer has a vision to cooperate with Japanese companies in launching Japanese products that use Robotis motors in their design. In the process of continuous product development and quality improvement, it is required to continuously gather information on the types of robots needed to perform specific tasks.
