About Prusa

Prusa is a Czech company based in Prague. It was founded in 2012 by high-tech enthusiast and student of Prague University of Economics Josef Prusa. The company specializes in creating 3D printers, filaments and other accessories. All technologies, designs and software developed by the brand are open-source, allowing free use, transformation and sharing with other users.

Prusa: it started with a dream

The company's founder, Josef Prusa, initially treated 3D printing as an interesting hobby. As the project began to grow, he found it difficult to make ends meet and was constantly adding to the business - the brand's website mentions that at first they shipped products to customers in pizza boxes! But the hard work soon began to pay off, and the company quickly gained international recognition and a loyal fan base around the world.

Prusa products and projects

The company's flagship product is the Prusa i3 3D printer (currently available in the latest version, MK3), which is extremely popular among customers - every month more than 6,000 units are sent from the distribution point in Prague to users around the world. There are also extensions available for this model, making multi-material printing possible. The brand also makes 3D mini-printers and devices that support stereolithography (SLA) printing technology, as well as high-quality filaments available under the Prusament trade name. Besides, PrusaLab has recently opened - a place where you will find all the necessary tools and equipment to make even the most complicated project! You can also attend interesting lectures, discussions and workshops there, all available for a small monthly membership fee. The company also offers great customer service and excellent product support, and the creative and friendly user community helps you find even more ideas for using Prusa printers.

Open-source formula

One of the most important principles since the brand's inception has been to maintain an open-source formula. This means that all designs of devices and parts, source codes, software and technologies used in the production process are available for free - they can be downloaded from the manufacturer's website, and then modified and used for any purpose, including commercial.
