Product description: Prusa USS Drybox - airtight container for storing filament
The Prusa USS Drybox was designed from the ground up as a container to protect filaments from moisture during storage and printing. The manufacturer claims up to 95% less moisture absorption compared to open-air storage , 5 times greater airtightness than standard dryboxes, and 50% better sealing. Using 50g of silica gel, it's possible to maintain relative humidity at around 10% for weeks. A sealed port allows filament to be fed through a PTFE tube without having to open the container, while side flaps allow for spool rotation or access to the desiccant. The Drybox primarily serves to slow the absorption of moisture by the filament—it is not an active dryer . Wet material must be properly dried beforehand and then stored in the container under controlled conditions.
Main features of the Prusa USS Drybox
- Protecting the filament from moisture : the airtight construction limits air exchange with the environment and helps maintain the material's properties
- Up to 95% less moisture absorption : the manufacturer compares the effectiveness of the container with storing the filament in the open air
- High tightness : the construction achieves 5 times greater tightness and 50% better sealing than standard dry boxes according to the manufacturer's data
- Print directly from the container : the sealed port allows you to feed the filament through the PTFE tube without opening the drybox
- Built-in hygrometer and thermometer : allow you to monitor the relative humidity and temperature inside the container
- Silica gel : a desiccant that helps maintain a low RH level inside the container
- Universal mounting : the central hole allows the drybox to be mounted on a compatible spool holder
- Stackable design : flat sides allow multiple containers to be stacked on top of each other
- Side access flaps : allow manual rotation of the spool and access to the desiccant without removing the entire cover
- Label holder : allows you to easily mark the type and parameters of the stored filament
- Supports common spools : The container holds most standard filament spools up to 1 kg
Universal drybox attachment to 3D printers and compatibility with filament spools
The universal mount uses a central hole that allows the container to be placed directly on the spool holder . The Prusa USS Drybox is designed to accommodate most standard filament spools up to 1 kg , allowing it to be used with materials from a wide range of manufacturers. Prusament spools—both older designs and newer models with OpenPrintTag—and Buddy3D spools are compatible without the need for additional components. For spools from other manufacturers, especially cardboard spools, an adapter may be needed to ensure proper spool rotation. Filament can also be fed from the Drybox to 3D printers from other manufacturers . The PTFE tube allows the material to be fed directly to the filament feed system, while the mounting of the container itself depends on the spool holder design of the printer. With available models and adapters for 3D printing, the system can be adapted to many station configurations.
