Product description: Reverse polarity protection module 4 - 75 V 8 A - Pololu 5358
The Pololu reverse polarity protection module is designed to protect electronic devices from the effects of accidental power supply polarity reversal . The system utilizes an AP74502HQ controller working with an N-channel MOSFET transistor , providing protection with very low conduction resistance— less than 15 mΩ . In practice, this means minimal power loss and a significantly lower voltage drop than with traditional protection diodes . The module operates with a voltage of 4 V to 75 V , and after startup, it can operate from as low as 3.2 V. The maximum continuous current is 8 A , and the system can conduct currents up to approximately 15 A for short periods. This version does not block reverse current flow , making it particularly recommended for motor controllers, battery-powered systems, and applications where energy can be returned to the power source, such as during regenerative braking. The board is equipped with holes for mounting popular 3.5mm and 5mm pitch screw connectors and 2.54mm goldpin connectors . The module's bottom also features a mounting location for an optional TVS diode in an SMB package, which increases the system's resistance to surges encountered in demanding industrial and automotive applications.
