The BNC socket with a quick-connect screw connector is an excellent solution, especially for people working with measuring equipment such as oscilloscopes or function and arbitrary generators.
This connector allows for a simple transition from a coaxial cable (terminated with a BNC connector) to a pair of single-core wires, for example, to connect a multimeter in parallel with an oscilloscope input (for example, if you want to simultaneously measure the DC component of a signal with a voltmeter and observe subtle waveform changes using an oscilloscope in AC-coupled mode). The quick connector is also ideal for connecting a breadboard-based system to a generator or oscilloscope.
