Raster connectors have gained and established an important position in the production of electronic devices over many years. The areas of application of these elements reach all branches of electronics, from self-assembly kits and modules for amateurs, through household appliances and consumer electronics, to industrial controllers or medical devices. Their particular advantage is the ease of assembly, good connecting parameters and reliability, resulting from a simple mechanical design. In this category you will find 2.54 mm raster connectors, which can replace popular goldpins and offer a number of additional advantages.

Raster connector design
Virtually all typical raster connectors are constructed in a similar way: the connector is a series of metal pins (straight or bent at 90 degrees). These pins are factory placed in a plastic strip-shaped housing, with holes that fit tightly to the shape (cross-section) and size of the pins. Some connectors can be manually split to obtain shorter slats with the number of pins needed, others are indivisible and you need to select the correct lengths of components at the purchase stage. The simplest 2.54 mm raster connectors are goldpins - popular especially in amateur robotics, they work perfectly well in the construction of prototypes, but in finished device designs (especially those intended for mass production) it is better to use connectors with a so-called key - that is, with such a construction of the plastic housing that prevents accidental reverse plugging into the socket. This way it is significantly easier to mount the device and avoid costly mistakes.
Raster 2.54 mm connectors in practice
The raster connectors available in this category are made with housings of bright yellow nylon 66, providing an insulation resistance of 1 GΩ. The components can operate with voltages up to 250 V and current loads (single pin) up to 1 A. The contact resistance does not exceed 30 mΩ, which allows the use of 2.54 mm raster connectors even in precise input circuits of measuring devices. The connectors can be used within a wide temperature range from -25 oC to + 85 oC. The contacts designed for female connector housings can be crimped manually or using special crimping tools, and the wires mating with the contacts can have cross-section from 0,2 mm2 to 0,75 mm2 (i.e. AWG24 to AWG18) and outer diameter from 1,2 mm to 2,1 mm.
Wide offer of 2.54 mm connectors
In our store you will find a wide range of raster connectors with standard 2,54 mm raster (100 mils), which can be successfully used in most places designed for classic goldpins. There are available connectors with number of pins from 2 to 6, as well as bigger elements with 8, 10 and 12 pins. In each case we offer both male sockets for through-hole mounting and female connector housings with terminals (contacts) for crimping on wires. Some sockets are available in an angled version, which allows to significantly reduce the total height of the PCB (in comparison with the PCB dimension of the straight version of such a connector used).
