M5Stack Core - a combination of high quality and rich functional equipment
Core is the flagship series of M5Stack modules designed for prototyping advanced hardware and software applications. As in the case of M5Stick modules, they have a USB connector and a connector for Grove series modules from Seeed Studio. In the second half of 2020 the M5Stack Core2 module was presented, which is based on the ESP32 microcontroller allowing to create advanced IoT applications. Characteristic feature of the Core series modules is a capacitive TFT touch screen display with a diagonal of 2″ and a resolution of 320 x 240, which allows a more smooth interaction between the module and the user. The module supports wireless communication (Bluetooth and Wi-Fi) and is compatible with Arduino ecosystem and can be programmed using MicroPython and UIFlow environment dedicated to create IoT projects using block interface. The module has a built-in real-time clock, 16 MB FLASH memory, 8 MB RAM and adjustable CPU clock in the frequency range from 80 MHz to 240 MHz.
M5Stack Core2 - wide possibilities of use
Core2 module is characterized by very good hardware performance and can be programmed using several different programming environments. Thanks to that you can use it in a wide range of embedded applications. A great example is the ability to build an advanced building automation system that includes intelligent additional functions for your home, such as lighting, air conditioning, heating and presence simulation. Core2 can also be used as a central controller of an industrial robot as well as a driving robot with obstacle detection. Due to the growing demand for specialists in electronics and programming, Core2 is recommended as a teaching tool with which pupils and students can learn about the secrets of creating embedded applications in a practical way.
M5Stack Core2 - advanced technical background
The main advantages of Core2 include the ESP32 processor and support for wireless communication systems. In addition, the module is equipped with its own 390 mAh battery with 3.7 V and a built-in system for monitoring energy consumption in real time. This makes Core2 ideal for use in wireless devices. Additionally, on board the module you will find a 1W speaker powered by a Class D amplifier, a 6-axis IMU inertial sensor, power and reset buttons, a vibration motor, and a memory card slot that supports TF cards with a maximum capacity of 16 GB.
