Bluetooth LE – Bluetooth is on the attack again
Bluetooth - Designers of radio modules and wireless communication protocols are perfectly aware of the current trends in the development of everyday electronics devices and thus contribute significantly to shaping the technology of tomorrow. And there is something to do, because the real boom in the field of IoT forces the use of certain new solutions that lead to minimizing energy consumption, increasing the transmission range and increasing the level of data security. Since the introduction of the official specification and the first modules implementing BLE 4.0 technology, literally every year we learn about another version of Bluetooth, improving the connection parameters or offering new device profiles. The use of Bluetooth modules is systematically expanding, which further drives the development of technology.
Bluetooth modules for installation in target devices
Our offer includes a wide selection of Bluetooth modules , adapted to be installed in the target structure. These include both elements intended for soldering directly on a printed circuit board and ready-made modules containing (in addition to the radio module itself) the necessary power supply circuits, digital connectors, antennas and even microcontrollers. The Bluetooth module, and more precisely, its connection is simple and intuitive.
A perfect example of such a miniature module that will work great in the target implementation is the NRF51822 miniature Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE 4.0) module. Soldering the designed device directly onto the printed circuit board is possible thanks to soldering pads placed on three of the four edges of the 21x17 mm board. Interestingly, the module even has an integrated microstrip antenna, made in the form of a special track on the upper surface of the module's PCB. Therefore, you do not have to worry about maintaining the strictly controlled impedance that is necessary to obtain the desired link parameters.
Bluetooth modules – evaluation boards and overlays
If you are just starting the project and want to practically familiarize yourself with the software operation of the Bluetooth module, choose one of the larger ones, equipped with goldpin connectors. A prime example here is the well-known and popular HC-05 v2 module (communication interface), equipped with an angular goldpin strip that facilitates its connection, e.g. with Arduino Raspberry Pi or the STM32 Discovery series board. If you are looking for an even simpler solution, ready to run immediately after connecting the power supply, choose one of the Arduino-compatible base boards (e.g. Arduino UNO) with an on-board BLE 4.0 module (a very attractive example of such a board is Bluno Mega 1280 BLE by DFRobot ). By using the Bluetooth module, e.g. to transmit music, we get home theater sound quality (starts are practically inaudible).
