The Milesight WS202 combines passive infrared (PIR) with brightness measurement to intelligently detect presence and lighting conditions . Thanks to LoRaWAN communication and Milesight LoRa D2D mode, the sensor can work directly with other components of the IoT ecosystem. Its compact form factor, easy mounting with 3M tape or screws, and NFC setup make the WS202 ideal for offices, hotels, schools, warehouses, and smart homes.

Intelligent automation features
The WS202 allows you to create scenes based on presence and lighting conditions. For example, when paired with the Milesight WS558 lighting controller or WS50x switches , it can automatically turn on lighting upon detecting motion and turn it off upon leaving the zone when brightness exceeds a set threshold. This helps reduce energy consumption and improve user comfort. The sensor can also inform the reservation system about room occupancy, activate air conditioning or ventilation upon detecting presence, and send notifications to building management systems. Configurable thresholds and reporting intervals allow for tailored operation to the specific needs of offices, schools, hotels, and warehouses.
Milesight D2D (Device to Device) communication protocol with LoRa technology enables communication between different Milesight LoRaWAN nodes without the use of a gateway.
Connectivity, configuration and applications
Thanks to LoRaWAN, the WS202 provides stable, energy-efficient connectivity over long distances, while the Milesight LoRa D2D protocol enables direct device-to-device communication without a gateway. This reduces latency, simplifies the architecture, and lowers deployment costs. The sensor is quickly configured using NFC and the Milesight ToolBox app—simply tap your phone, verify the password, and set parameters such as brightness thresholds, report intervals, and event types. The Milesight IoT Cloud platform enables data visualization, the creation of automation rules and reports, and remote management of the sensor fleet via a browser or mobile app.
