360 ° servos are modern solutions in the form of electric motors that are integrated with the control system. Everything is contained within one housing. 360 ° servos can be used in robots and controlled by RC apparatus or by a microcontroller by direct connection to its input and output ports. Our offer includes a wide selection of 360 ° servos of various sizes and operating parameters. Be sure to check out all of the products below!
360° servo as a great alternative to conventional electric motors
There are many types of servos, and the choice of a specific type should be dictated primarily by the parameters that we care about. However, if we are looking for a given servo and we know what parameters will be important for our individual project, then a 360 ° servo may be one of the interesting alternatives.
Well, in robots or running platforms, servos are usually used to drive the wheels. Interestingly, in many cases, 360 ° servos offer better performance with a smaller size compared to standard electric motors and have a built-in speed control and rotation direction switching system, which allows the servo to work in an open-loop feedback system, in which the voltage signal from the pins the servo potentiometer is not being fed back to the control system. This means that servo mechanisms of this type may be characterized by a higher level of work efficiency.
360° servos – better parameters and holistic control
The direction of rotation is controlled in a proportional manner, thanks to the fact that the 360 ° servo supports virtually all directions of movement. Thanks to this, we gain much greater accuracy of the work of this component, which may in turn be crucial for the operation of the entire electronic project.
What is more, most servos use PWM as a control signal, generated by a microcontroller or a dedicated driver. The standard frequency of the control signal is 50 Hz, and the desired angular position of the t-bar on the servo shaft is obtained by controlling the filling of the PWM signal. A pulse of 1.5 ms duration will place the servo in neutral.
However, it must be known that such a control pulse with a duration of 1.0 ms will cause a minimal shift in the angular position of the servo. In turn, the maximum shift of this element will take place already when executing an impulse with a duration of 2.0 ms.
The 360 ° servo is a very good solution for most types of advanced electromechanical, automatic and robotic projects. Be sure to check the parameters of the selected device before purchasing to make sure that it will fit the requirements of the project.
360° servos and standard servos – major differences
360 ° servos do not use an angular position sensor like their classic counterparts. As a result, the control system will make such a servo work like a normal electric motor. The 360 ° servo rotor will turn fully in one direction. This is a big difference to standard servos.
For example, by sending a signal to the servo that will cause the drag bar to rotate 30 ° clockwise, the drag bar will rotate clockwise until a signal is sent to turn the drag bar to zero, which will stop the servo. When you specify a 30 ° rotation angle counterclockwise, the servo rotates at the same speed as when you specify a 30 ° rotation angle clockwise but counterclockwise.
However, it should be remembered that further increasing or decreasing the duty cycle of the signal corresponding to the rotation angle by a non-zero value will result in increasing or decreasing the servo rotational speed, respectively. If you need help choosing a servo, just contact us!
