Multifunctional battery chargers with various charging connection options
Charger modules on PCB boards offered by Botland shop from manufacturers such as SparkFun, DFRobot or Adafruit are very easy to use. As soon as the charging module is connected via a MicroUSB cable to a USB connector on a computer and a lithium-polymer or lithium-ion battery pack with a nominal voltage of 3.7V or 4.2V is connected to the JST connector, the charging process begins, which is signalled by a red LED light. When the battery is charged and ready for use, the green LED lights up.
Tips on using charger modules
Use the charger modules only to charge Li-ion and LiPol batteries. Other battery packs may differ in voltage rating, chemical composition, connector pinout, and polarity, which could damage the pack or charger module. Our charger Adafruit MCP73831, realizes a three-stage charging process. After connecting the power supply and the pack, a conditioning charge with precise charge current regulation begins, followed by a transition to a fast charging stage. When charging is complete, the charger module switches to a battery back-up state. The factory preset charge current is 100mA and will be sufficient to quickly charge batteries by powering the module from the USB port. However, if your battery packs have a larger capacity, and you need to charge them quickly, then all you need to do is solder a jumper on the underside of the PCB and then you will get a charger output current of up to 500mA. In the set you will find a cable with JST connector for charging. In our shop offer are also available small, portable powerbanks with high capacity.
