The Aeotec Water Leak Sensor is a compact sensor designed to monitor areas prone to water leaks, such as under the sink, near the washing machine, dishwasher, or in the basement. The sensor detects water from both the top and bottom of the housing , increasing detection efficiency and enabling a quick response. The device communicates wirelessly using the ZigBee 3.0 (2.4 GHz) standard and is compatible with the SmartThings system. In addition to flood detection , it also monitors temperature , enabling the creation of automation solutions related to water system protection and indoor climate.
For proper operation, the sensor requires a compatible ZigBee gateway - it is fully compatible with, among others, the Aeotec Smart Home Hub, Aeotec Z-Stick 10 Pro, Aeotec Zi-Stick, ezlo Plus, Homey Bridge and Homey Pro.

This allows for a quick response and reduces property damage. Temperature measurement also enables monitoring conditions in technical rooms, such as the boiler room or laundry room. Automation can, for example, alert you if a temperature drop threatens the water system.
