A universal timer in a DIP8 through-hole package. Designed for THT through-hole mounting. Also available in an SMD package and socket .

Universal timer NE555 - THT.
1. GND - system ground
2. TRIGGER - Trigger input. When a voltage lower than 1/3 of the supply voltage is applied to this input, the system is triggered and the output goes high.
3. OUT - Output of the system
4. RESET - Applying a low level resets the system. The output is set to a low state and the external capacitor is discharged.
5. CONTROL - input for changing the proportions of the internal voltage divider.
6. TRESHOLD - comparator input that disconnects the internal flip-flop. When a voltage higher than 2/3 of the supply voltage appears at this input, the system output will be set to low.
7. DISCHARGE - output used to discharge an external capacitor. This is the collector output of the internal transistor.
8. VCC - system power supply.

The resistor divider determines the threshold voltages for the comparators, respectively 1/3 (1) and 2/3 (2) of the supply voltage.
