A multinational technology corporation that supplies products to many markets
The number of market segments in which Sony is present is overwhelming. Apart from the most recognizable - consumer electronics, mainly audio-video equipment, but not only, as Sony also produces cell phones, digital cameras and camcorders (using its own memory card standard - Memory Stick) and portable computers. Few people know that Sony is responsible for the introduction of the 3.5-inch floppy disk, once the only available storage medium for moving files between computers. Although floppy disks are long forgotten in practical use, they live on forever as an icon that symbolizes writing data in a program to a file.
Sony Spresense developer module
Sony's CXD5602 microcontroller is an advanced design featuring six ARM Cortex-M4F cores clocked at up to 156 MHz, 1.5 MB of RAM, and 8 MB of Flash memory. In addition, Sony has equipped this chip with a very wide range of peripherals. One of them is the audio system, using 192 kHz, 24-bit codec with DAC and ADC circuits, allowing for multi-channel audio support, including multiple inputs, e.g. microphone inputs, which is ideal for systems such as voice assistants. In addition, a compact audio amplifier is integrated into the development module, making the Sony Spresense an excellent integrated audio solution. However, the capabilities of the chip used don't end there; the component has a built-in receiver for satellite navigation systems, supporting GPS, GLONASS, SBAS, Galileo and Beidu constellations, as well as numerous communication interfaces such as I2C, I2C, SPI, USB.
Extensions for the Sony Spresense board
If the capabilities of the Sony Spresense development module alone are not enough for your application, Sony offers optional expansion modules for this board. The Botland store offers a base board for the Sony Spresense ecosystem, allowing you to connect external components and devices to the development module, as well as a camera with a 5 MP CMOS sensor that allows the microcontroller to take photos and videos.
Sony optical sensors - components present in many modules on the market
Sony is a leading manufacturer of optical sensors for cameras. The company manufactures high-end CMOS image sensors. They are available in a wide range of sizes and resolutions - from the smallest formats dedicated for webcams, to matrices the size of a full 35 mm film frame, which are installed in professional digital cameras. Sony matrices are used in a wide range of camera modules dedicated for developer kits and single board computers, available in our store.
Batteries and lithium-ion cells
Sony is a manufacturer of both ordinary batteries and rechargeable lithium-ion cells. In our store you can find a wide selection of batteries of this manufacturer. They are mainly watch batteries, also known as button batteries. These chemical cells use lithium compounds to function; this is more modern technology than zinc cells, allowing Sony batteries to provide more energy at the same size. Button cells are typically used in portable devices to power low-power systems, such as battery backup of cached data or powering the device's real-time clock while it is disconnected from an external power supply. Lithium-ion cells, on the other hand, are currently the most popular type of rechargeable electrochemical cells. Sony manufactures these cells in the most popular sizes; in our store you can find li-ion cells of this manufacturer in 18650 format (that is 18 mm in diameter and 65 mm in height) with different capacity.
