These small devices hide enormous possibilities in their housing. They are responsible for converting the rotational motion into an electrical signal that allows you to determine the exact angular position, offset and number of revolutions. Encoders - FAQ
Encoders are rotational-pulse converters. They generate impulses under the influence of shaft rotation. They convert motion into an electrical signal, so it can be used to determine angular displacements, rotational speed or linear displacement. They are divided into incremental and absolute.
The most important parameters of encoders useful in electronics and robotics are resolution, i.e. the number of pulses per revolution, housing size, shaft or hole diameter, mounting method, supply voltage, output signal and its output method.
