Product description: Pimoroni Pico LiPo - RP2040 microcontroller board - Pimoroni PIM560
RP2040 microcontroller board created byPimoronicompany. The module is based on theRaspberry Pi RP2040microcontroller, the board also features16MBof QSPI flash memory, USB type C connector, STEMMA QT / Qwiic, debugging connectors anda Li-Pol battery charger chip. The board has the same layout and pinouts as the original Raspberry Pi Pico created by the Raspberry Pi Foundation, allowing for all overlays and other add-ons compatible with the RaspberryPi Pico.
The Pimoroni Pico LiPo is powered and programmed by aUSB Type-Cconnector and comes with 16MB of QSPI flash memory to handle even the toughest projects. Thanks to theSTEMMA QT / Qwiicconnector, it is possible to connect a whole bunch of sensors and modules, as well as debugging if you want to program with a SWD debugger. There is also a BOOTSEL and power button on the board.
Built-in charger chip
Pimoroni Pico LiPo also has a built-inLi-Pol/Li-Ionbattery management circuit, so you can easily charge the battery through the JST connector. There are two LEDs connected to the charger circuit to indicate power and charging status.
Getting started with Pimoroni Pico LiPo
The module is programmed using C/C++ or MicroPython in the same way as the Raspberry Pi Pico. More information can be found in the SDK fileson the Raspberry Pi Pico website. It is also possible to program in CircuitPython, which is an easy-to-use ecosystem with lots of sample code and drivers for interfacing with different types of hardware. The manufacturer has preparedCircuitPython softwareand aguide.
The power button can also be used as a reset button. Just press it twice to cut off and restore power.
RP2040 microcontroller
The Raspberry Pi RP2040 microcontrolleris based on a dual core ARM Cortex M0+ processor running at 133 MHz. It features 264 kB of SRAM memory, 30 GPIO pins including a quad-channel 12-bit ADC and USB support. One of the RP2040's more important features is its programmable IOs, which enable custom programs that can manipulate GPIO pins and transfer data between peripherals - they can offload tasks that require high data rates.
