Bluetooth, a motion sensor and a microphone with more pins
Seeed Studio XIAO nRF52840 Sense Plus is a board with a Nordic nRF52840 chip, a motion sensor and a microphone, and it adds 9 extra SMD pins on a 21 x 17.8 mm board. It connects over BLE 5.4, or Bluetooth Low Energy, supports Bluetooth Mesh and NFC, meaning near-field communication, and has its antenna on the board.
The LSM6DS3TR-C IMU motion sensor combines an accelerometer and a gyroscope, and the digital PDM microphone captures sound for recognizing commands. This makes the board suitable for TinyML, meaning machine learning on a microcontroller, for example for gesture recognition. The 64 MHz Cortex-M4F processor has 256 KB RAM, 1 MB flash and 2 MB of additional flash on the QSPI bus, and in deep sleep the board draws about 5 µA.

What the Plus version adds
The Plus version has 9 additional pins in the form of SMD pads with 1.27 mm pitch, meaning castellated half-holes on the edge and solder pads on the bottom, which let you solder the board onto your own PCB. They give you a second UART, a second SPI, an I2S interface for digital audio and the NFC antenna contacts.
The battery pads have been moved to a spot that is easier to solder, and next to them are the SWD debugger pads, meaning an interface for uploading code and stepping through a program. The front of the board stays unchanged, so the board fits XIAO add-on boards such as the Xiao Logger HAT and the 1.28" round touch display for XIAO.

Fun fact
Inspired by the RICK TNY board
Seeed Studio states that the layout of the SMD pads on the Plus versions was inspired by the RICK TNY board. This is how the XIAO nRF52840 Plus, XIAO nRF52840 Sense Plus and XIAO ESP32-S3 Plus came about, with more castellated half-holes and a new pad layout on the bottom.
Frequently asked questions
How do I set the charging current?
You choose the charging current with pin P0.13. Set as an input without a pull-up, it gives about 50 mA, and set as an output in the low state, about 100 mA. Towards the end of charging, the current decreases on its own.
What should I do if the Arduino IDE freezes while uploading a program?
Press the Reset button once. If that does not help, press it twice quickly to start the bootloader, or disconnect the board and connect it again.
Does the LED work in reverse?
Yes. The user LED lights up when the pin is low and goes off when it is high.
