Those days, the displays are an inseparable element of consumer and professional electronics devices. You can find them in the telephones, computer monitors, TVs, electronic musical instruments, cars, toys and in controllers of advanced technological processes in the broadly defined industry. Displays are an excellent and cost-effective alternative to monitors, which, due to much larger sizes and technological requirements, cannot be used in any type of application. The Raspberry Pi 4B single-board minicomputer offered by our store is a small platform with very good hardware parameters, which can also work with displays. By using DSI and GPIO connectors placed on Raspberry Pi 4B printed circuit board you can attach an external display module to make your Raspberry Pi more practical and comfortable device in use. In our store, you will find a wide-range offer of displays with a different type of technology and resolution, such as LCD, TFT, IPS, OLED and 7-segment numerical. By connecting the display to Pi 4B, you can build a simple pocket-sized computer for internet browsing and gaming, as well as the control panel for a robot or CNC machine. We also offer dedicated display enclosures that increase the comfort of use and provide good protection against display damage.

LCD - the Liquid Crystal Display - how it works
The operating principle of LCD displays is based on certain optical properties of transmitting polarized light in liquid crystals depending on the value of the electric field strength. Normal (unpolarized) light is characterized by a diffuse distribution of electromagnetic waves. To order the distribution of light rays, specially designed polarizing filters are used. By adding a second polarizing filter and setting it at the right angle, you can smoothly change the intensity of polarized light. The liquid crystal structure of the monochrome LCD display works analogously to this principle. Applying the appropriate voltage to individual crystals causes the change in intensity of the backlight of individual pixels of the display. In a typical LCD display design, when the backlight LEDs are turned on, the light is emitted into the input polarizer. Then the light passes through a transparent glass layer with a sputtered electrode. When the electrodes are de-energized, the display will only show light from the backlight LEDs that will pass through the glass layer and the output polarizer. After applying a voltage to the electrodes surrounding the crystals, the pixel will start to glow with a brightness that is proportional to the value of the voltage that polarizing the crystals.
TFT - modern semiconductor technology for high-quality LCDs
Based on the timeless technology of LCD displays, designers have created TFT (Thin Film Transistor) displays. This technology allows you to display the image in very high resolution with great contrasting colours. Those days, The TFT design is used in tablets, smartphones, monitors and many other multimedia devices. The TFT display structure uses thin-film unipolar transistors (FET) and three-colour pixels emitting red, green and blue colours - similarly to popular RGB LEDs. The matrix that forming the TFT LCD display is made up of control lines (rows) and signal lines (columns). The control lines are connected to the transistor gates. Applying voltage to the gate causes turning-on the transistors. The signal lines are connected to the sources of the transistors and current flows through them to light up the pixels of the display. However, IPS (In-Plane Switching) displays are an upgraded version of TFT-LCD technology. This design allows even more accurate colour reproduction and improves image visibility on wide-range of angle. Due to the modified design of electrode arrangement, LCD-IPS displays have a much shorter response time on the control signal, compared to standard touchscreen displays. You can connect such a display to the Raspberry Pi 4B. The displays we offer in a Botland Store are available in diagonal diameter from 3.2 " to 15.6".
