Product Description: Li-Pol / Li-Ion / Li-Fe 5V bq25185 USB Type-C / DC / Solar Panel Battery Charging Module - Adafruit 6091
The Adafruit Battery Charging Module is an excellent upgrade for the older MCP73831 series. At the heart of the board is the bq25185 chip , which supports single-cell batteries with a nominal voltage of 3.7V (maximum 4.2V) and Li-FePO4 cells with voltages from 3.2V to 3.65V . It allows for powering via the USB Type-C port or via dedicated DC pads supporting input voltages from 5V to 18V . Using a photovoltaic panel , the charger dynamically adjusts current draw, preventing voltage drops. The Power Path system intelligently distributes power between battery charging and direct power to the receiver. Additionally, the built-in regulator protects connected electronics by limiting the output voltage to a maximum of 4.5V. Numerous thermal and current protections, as well as a built-in safety shutdown that operates for 6 hours, enhance safety.

The module allows projects to be powered from various sources, automatically optimizing energy consumption from solar panels.
Main features of the module

- 10 kΩ thermistor input : allows you to monitor the battery temperature while charging
Battery charging module pins and interfaces
The module is equipped with a USB Type-C connector, a DCIN input for a power supply or solar panel, and two 2mm JST-PH connectors labeled BATT and LOAD. A single-cell Li-Ion, Li-Pol, or Li-FePO4 battery is connected to the BATT connector, while the LOAD connector powers the actual electronics . The board also includes battery voltage and output measurement fields, as well as S1 and S2 status pins, a CE input for controlling the system operation and a TH pad for connecting a 10 kΩ thermistor.
