A wiring mistake will not burn your circuit
Pololu Ideal Diode Reverse Voltage Protector is connected between the power supply and the load and blocks a reversed battery or power supply connection, even at -60 V. When connected correctly, the current flows through a MOSFET transistor with a resistance below 3 mΩ, so the module loses almost no voltage and carries up to 20 A continuously, and even about 50 A for a few seconds.
This version works as an ideal diode: it also blocks current flowing from the load back to the source. It is useful when you combine several power sources or want the load's capacitors not to discharge into the power supply. The large holes fit 5 mm pitch ARK connectors and wires up to 14 AWG.

Did you know?
A diode with almost no voltage drop
An ordinary protection diode takes away part of the voltage and heats up at high current. Here the role of the diode is played by a MOSFET transistor with a resistance of about 3 mΩ, so at 20 A the voltage drop is only about 0.06 V.

Frequently asked questions
How do I connect the module?
You connect the power supply to VIN and GND, and the load to VOUT and GND. If the power is connected the wrong way round, the module simply does not let the voltage through.
Can I use it with a motor driver on a battery?
Better not. This version blocks reverse current, and when braking the motor returns energy to the battery. For such applications the manufacturer recommends the version without reverse current blocking.
Are screw terminals included?
No. The screw terminals and pins visible in some of the manufacturer's photos are not included.
