The module is designed for IoT systems requiring long-range data transmission with minimal power consumption. The STM32WLE5 integrated with the RAK3172 solution provides high performance and full support for the LoRaWAN 1.0.3 protocol. The module can operate both in LoRaWAN networks using communication gateways and in direct peer-to-peer communication mode. Built-in DIP switches allow for convenient mapping of the UART lines to various M5Stack controllers, while the included rubber duck antenna increases connection stability and transmission range. Thanks to its very low power consumption in sleep mode, the module is ideal for battery-powered applications and systems operating for many months.

The module uses the M5-Bus bus and is designed to work with CoreS3 , CoreS3 SE , Core2 v1.1, Tough , Basic v2.7 , M5GO IoT Kit v2.7, Fire v2.7, Core2 for AWS, Tab5 , and CoreMP135 . Built-in DIP switches allow you to reassign the UART lines and tailor the connections to a specific hardware platform.
LoRaWAN technology in IoT systems
LoRaWAN technology was created for IoT devices requiring the transmission of small amounts of data over very long distances with minimal power consumption . Compared to solutions based on WiFi or Bluetooth, it enables communication over distances of up to several kilometers while maintaining months or even years of battery-powered operation. The M5Stack LoRaWAN EU868 module supports three LoRaWAN operating classes. Class A provides the lowest power consumption and is ideal for sensors that periodically transmit data. Class B allows for cyclical reception windows, while Class C offers near-constant readiness to receive messages, making it suitable for industrial control and automation systems.
Integrated DIP switches allow switching of UART communication pins to accommodate different control platforms.
