Probably no one who tries to keep up with the news from the world of 3D printing, is surprised by the fact that Polish manufacturers have a significant share in the industry of devices, as well as consumables for additive manufacturing. Noctuo company based in Gliwice is an excellent example of a brand native to the Vistula river, which successfully introduced its own felt for FFF (FDM) printing. Currently, the company's portfolio includes both materials based on classical materials, improved by appropriate doping and production method (e.g. Noctuo Ultra PLA), and much less common filaments for special applications (e.g. Noctuo Metallic, POM or MediFlex).

Ultra PLA - a classic felt in the new version
Noctuo Ultra PLA family of felts, as the name suggests, is based on perhaps the most popular material used in 3D printing - polylactide, or polymerized lactic acid. Although the classic PLA felts are usually characterized by negligible shrinkage, in the case of the most demanding prints, even this "residual" tendency of the thermoplastic to reduce dimensions after cooling can be a source of problems. High dimensional accuracy is essential when the printed part has to cooperate with other components (e.g. elements of a mechanism or the second part of a sealed housing). In such cases, Noctuo Ultra PLA comes to the rescue - this material offers even lower shrinkage and allows to modify the printing temperature within wider limits, which is important for advanced 3D printer users: it accepts temperatures up to 220 oC, while the recommended temperature for classical Noctuo PLA is 200 oC.
Noctuo ABS - great possibilities and excellent mechanical parameters
ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) is - after PLA - the second most commonly used material for production of felts for 3D printers working in FDM technology. Due to its high mechanical strength, good insulating properties and easy machining, it has been used for many years in production of housings for electronic devices, household appliances and RTV equipment elements and even medical equipment. Thanks to special chemical additives used in the production process, ABS filaments offered by Noctuo brand are characterized by increased resistance to UV radiation, which is extremely important in printing of functional details, which should maintain high strength for a long time.
Noctuo PET-G - universal filament for various applications
Another noteworthy product is the PET-G filament supplied by Noctuo. This material is based on polyethylene terephthalate, further modified by the addition of glycol. This versatile thermoplastic offers excellent mechanical strength - it maintains very high adhesion of layers, and some small elasticity gives the details printed with its use considerable resistance to cracking. What is more, this material has been approved for food contact - no wonder, since it is from PET that millions of packages of medicines, bottles of drinks, etc. are produced annually. A significant advantage of Noctuo PET-G remains the fact that it does not produce harmful, irritating vapors during printing, making it suitable for use even in everyday rooms (e.g. in the room).
Noctuo GRIP - TPU for the most demanding applications
TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) filament is an excellent material, which allows to create flexible, very durable details, resistant to various types of mechanical damage. No wonder that TPU is one of the most popular material for production of cell phone cases. With the use of 3D printer (necessarily with heated work table) equipped with Noctuo GRIP filament, it is possible to efficiently print various useful details - from tires for RC vehicles and mobile robots, through non-slip surfaces of robotic grippers, to specialized gaskets, grip caps or impact shields for mobile devices. Noctuo's TPU filaments require printing at a hotend temperature of 230..250 oCand a workbench temperature range of 50 oCto 70 oC.
