The pins in the socket have 1 mm raster, while the outputs have 2.54 mm raster. After soldering the goldpin connectors, the module can be easily plugged into a standard PCB, which makes prototyping much easier.

This type of connector was used inmagnetic encodersfor micro motors by Pololu. Using this module the whole circuit can be plugged into thecontactboard and its operation can be tested before it is implemented in the finished project.
