Mechanical or electronic caliper?
In general, both types of calipers can achieve similar levels of accuracy. It is relatively rare to find instruments with an accuracy of 0.01 mm - for comparison, human erythrocytes (red blood cells) have a diameter of up to about 0.009 mm, so such high accuracy is needed only rarely. In everyday workshop work, an accuracy of 0.02 mm or even 0.05 mm is sufficient. The electronic caliper is much better for quick measurements, because it does not require reading the divisions of the main scale and comparing them with the vernier scale. Many people, especially beginners, find it difficult to read the tiniest vernier scale plots without errors because it requires some experience. In addition, people with poor eyesight can have considerable trouble accurately determining the readings of mechanical calipers. Traditional instruments, on the other hand, are perfect for rough measurements, and they also work longer in harsh environments (dust, vibrations), as the magnetic ruler of electronic calipers is quite delicate.
Calipers in Botland store offer
Our store offers both simple, mechanical calipers, as well as various models of electronic calipers of well known tool manufacturers, such as Vorel and Yato. Model YT-72003 is made of stainless steel and offers the ability to measure external, internal dimensions and depth in the range from 0 to 200 mm. We also have the popular Vorel 15110 model with a measurement range of 0-150 mm. In the segment of electronic calipers we recommend an inexpensive plastic caliper with an accuracy of +/-0.1 mm, sufficient for amateur robotic or modeling work. For professionals we have YT-7201 and Vorel 15240 calipers (both with accuracy +/- 0,02 mm).
Handy measuring tools for everyone
In this category, you will also find simple, but very useful instruments, which will find many applications not only in the electronics workshop, but in every home or business. The plastic caliper Vorel 15120 will come in handy for quick, simple measurements of length, depth, and inside dimensions of various holes. The Vorel coiled tape measures (commonly called "marks") will also be very useful - we have two models with lengths of 3 m and 5 m, both in ergonomic cases with anti-slip rubber edging. Every DIY enthusiast should also have a spirit level handy - e.g. Vorel 16552, 60 cm long, made of aluminium, ideal for levelling furniture (shelves, tables or racks).
