The EU Directives 2011/65/EU and 2015/863 restrict the use of ten substances listed below in the manufacturing of certain types of electrical and electronic equipment.
Although these restrictions does not legally apply to components, it is acknowledged that the "compliance" of components is important to many customers.
Definition of RoHS compliance according to Botland:
- The product does not contain any substances subject to restrictions in concentrations or applications prohibited by the directive.
- In the case of components, the product is suitable for processing at higher the temperatures required for lead-free soldering.
The restricted substances and their maximum allowable concentrations in homogeneous material, by weight, are as follows:
| Substance |
Concentration (max) |
| Lead (Pb) |
0,1% |
| Mercury (Hg) |
0,1% |
| Poły Brominated Biphenyls (PBB) |
0,1% |
| Poły Brominated Diphenyl ethers (PBDE) |
