Z-Stick 7 Configuration
Installing the Z-Stick 7 is simple and intuitive, allowing you to quickly get your smart home up and running. The main steps include:
- Connecting to a Device: Insert the Aeotec Z-Stick 7 into the USB port of a compatible device such as a Raspberry Pi, Windows PC, Linux computer, or miniPC. The adapter will automatically be recognized as a serial port (USB CDC).
- Platform Selection: Choose the right platform to manage your smart home, such as Raspberry Pi , Windows, Linux, etc.
- Software Selection: Choose the appropriate software for your Z-Stick 7, such as Home Assistant, Domoticz or HomeSeer, to provide an interface for configuring and managing Z-Wave connections.
- Device Scanning: Once the software has launched and the USB adapter has been successfully detected, you can proceed to scan for available Z-Wave devices in your area. Make sure that they are in pairing mode (inclusion mode).
- Adding and configuring devices: Once scanning is complete, add selected devices to your Z-Wave network and configure them according to your preferences, e.g. by setting schedules, creating scenarios, or remotely controlling devices.

Z-Wave Plus 700 is the latest generation of the wireless communication protocol for smart homes, introducing a number of advanced improvements in range, energy efficiency, and security. Compared to older versions, Z-Wave 700 provides up to 250% greater signal range (up to 100 m in open space) and improved receiver sensitivity, enabling stable communication between devices even in large homes or multi-story buildings. Thanks to the new SiLabs 700 chipset, the Aeotec Z-Stick 7 offers very low power consumption (standby from just 30 µA), which translates to reduced system load and longer operation of battery-powered devices. The standard also supports SmartStart technology , enabling automatic device pairing without the need for manual configuration. S2 Security guarantees a high level of data protection and effective network security against unauthorized access, providing better protection against hacker attacks and secure communication between devices. This makes adding devices to the network quick, safe, and convenient. Additionally, Z-Wave 700 is fully compatible with earlier versions of Z-Wave, ensuring seamless integration with existing home automation infrastructure.
