Multiplexers are advanced electronic components that are found in both digital (now more common) and analog (slightly less common) versions. Due to its mode of operation, it can be said that the multiplexer is a combination circuit used to select one of several available input signals. After selection, the signal is transferred to the device output. The multiplexer is a commutation (switching) system. Thanks to the use of such a device in the electronic system, the number of inputs can be easily increased (e.g. to a microprocessor). The multiplexer has the infrastructure to handle a plurality of connected signal generators (e.g. sensors) with a single control signal which will eventually cause the device to return a single output.

Multiplexer (address inputs, control input and one output.
The multiplexer works like a switch - it has several or even several dozen signal inputs, address inputs and a single control input and one output. Regardless of the type of device, the connection diagram is very similar - it differs mainly in the layout and number of inputs. Each multiplexer of this type has one control input (e.g. for transmitting input data) , an output (here the return signal will appear), pins for connecting signal generators (e.g. sensors), address inputs and control lines. A multiplexer is a switching circuit that is designed to return the signal value of one of the information inputs, the index of which was determined by the control input. The information input can, for example, receive signals indicating the so-called low state.
Multiplexers with address inputs - what else is worth knowing about them?
Multiplexers can also function as demultiplexers . This means that you can connect as many signals to one input as the device has specific channels (multiplexer - combination circuit), or you can output as many signals from only one pin (demultiplexer). It is worth remembering that devices of this type operate after connecting current with specific parameters, and the output signal parameters cannot exceed them. The input number is passed to the address lines, and the strobe input is also called clock input. Additionally, you should know that the output y has information about the state of the data input.
What do we offer in this category?
We offer several types of analog multiplexers and many digital models. Analog devices are available in both SMD and THT mounting versions - the price of such devices is lower than the offered analog multiplexers. Digital multiplexers are mostly modules with ready-made pins in the form of solder pads, prepared, for example, for soldering goldpins. The devices can also be used to work with digital signals (for example with the I2C or SPI interface). We have multiplexers - including 2-bit, 4-bit and 8-bit. One of the 8-channel devices has an output I2C bus that allows changing the address, which in turn allows you to connect up to 64 I2C devices. In this category, we offer a wide range of multiplexers with address outputs (the input data sent).
Multiplexers - FAQ
Multiplexers allow you to connect several elements providing an input signal to one system or device (for example , an A/D converter ).
The method of connecting the multiplexer depends on the connected systems and devices. For example, multiplexers that allow you to connect more devices to a computer (e.g. cash registers) are most often connected with RJ45 cables .
