Elegoo Centauri 2: open-frame CoreXY
Elegoo Centauri 2 is an open-frame CoreXY 3D printer with a cast aluminum frame, a 350 °C nozzle and a 256 x 256 x 256 mm build volume, printing at up to 500 mm/s. The manufacturer lists PLA, PETG, PLA-CF and TPU as ideal materials for it.
It has the same speed, build volume and nozzle as the Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2, but it has no enclosure, camera, lighting or filter, so it weighs 13.7 kg instead of 17.5 kg. You control it from a 5-inch touchscreen and send files over WiFi or carry them on the USB drive from the set.

What sets this model apart
Centauri Carbon 2 mechanics in an open frame
The Centauri 2 has the same build volume, speed and 350 °C nozzle as the Centauri Carbon 2, but without the enclosure, camera and filter, which makes it 3.8 kg lighter. Keep in mind that the manufacturer does not recommend ABS, ASA, PC and PA on it, and for these materials choose the Centauri Carbon 2 with its enclosed chamber.

Automatic calibration before printing
The printer levels the bed by itself, and the partial leveling function measures only the area where the print will be made. Automatic Z offset sets the nozzle height above the plate, which determines first layer adhesion, so you do not adjust it by hand.
Active vibration compensation reduces ringing and edge echoing on walls during fast printing, and Pressure Advance calibration matches filament flow to the speed of the toolhead. Precise control of heating and cooling reduces warping, even with complex models.
For PLA, PETG, PLA-CF and TPU
The manufacturer lists PLA, PETG, PLA-CF and TPU as ideal materials for the Centauri 2. The printer accepts flexible TPU filament directly, without an additional adapter, so you can print cases, gaskets and pads from it.
The brass nozzle with a hardened steel tip heats up to 350 °C, and the heat break is made of titanium alloy. The bed heats up to 110 °C, and the double-sided spring steel plate has a side for PLA and a textured PEI side for strong adhesion.

CoreXY 500 mm/s on a cast frame
Two 4260 stepper motors drive the X and Y axes independently, and precise metal linear rails maintain accuracy even at 500 mm/s and acceleration of up to 20,000 mm/s². The recommended print speed is 250 mm/s.
The cast aluminum frame reduces vibration, and quiet drivers run all axes. Print accuracy is ±0.1 mm, and you can set the layer height from 0.1 mm to 0.4 mm, with 0.2 mm recommended by the manufacturer.

Open frame and material choice
The Centauri 2 has no enclosure, and the manufacturer does not recommend ABS, ASA, PET, PETG-CF, PA and PC or their carbon fiber variants on it. Elegoo lists these materials for printers with an enclosed chamber, which maintains a temperature suited to the material.
As standard, the printer also has no camera, LED lighting, air filter or exhaust grille. For engineering materials and printing in an enclosed chamber with a HEPA filter, choose the Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2.

Magnetic cover and nozzle wiper
The magnetic toolhead cover makes nozzle replacement easier, and the semi-automatic tensioner keeps the belts at the right tension and reduces vibration. The silicone wiper, resistant to 350 °C, removes filament residue from the nozzle, and a spare bed wiper is included in the set.
You operate the new 5-inch capacitive touchscreen much like a phone. The printer automatically unloads filament from the toolhead and resumes an interrupted print after a power loss.
ElegooSlicer, Nexprint and ELEGOO Matrix
You prepare models in the ElegooSlicer program, and the printer also accepts files from Orca and Cura. The program loads STL, OBJ, 3MF and STEP files, and the ready G-code goes to the printer.
In the Nexprint library you can browse thousands of ready-made models and transfer them directly to ElegooSlicer. The ELEGOO Matrix app lets you control the printer from your phone from anywhere.

Did you know?
Leveling only where you print
The partial leveling function measures only the area of the bed where the print will be made. The manufacturer states that this shortens print preparation by up to 75 %, which with small models means a faster start of the job.

Frequently asked questions
Can it print ABS or ASA?
The manufacturer does not recommend it: ABS, ASA, PC and PA are on its list of materials not recommended for the Centauri 2. For them, choose the Centauri Carbon 2 with its enclosed chamber.
Does it print TPU filament?
Yes. TPU is on the list of ideal materials for the Centauri 2, and the manufacturer states that the printer handles it without an adapter.
Does it have a camera and lighting?
No. The Centauri 2 has no camera, LED lighting, air filter or enclosure. The Centauri Carbon 2 has them as standard.
Can I add 4 colors?
Yes. The printer supports the CANVAS system in the version for the Centauri 2 and Centauri Carbon 2 series, which is not included in the set. CANVAS for the first Centauri Carbon does not fit it.
How does it differ from the Centauri Carbon 2?
The Centauri 2 has an open frame without a camera, LED and filter, and weighs 13.7 kg instead of 17.5 kg. The 256 mm build area, speed of up to 500 mm/s and 350 °C nozzle are the same.
How many sensors does the printer have?
The manufacturer states that 15 sensors monitor the print. They detect, among other things, a nozzle clog, filament runout, the cutter status and a disconnected part cooling fan.

30 days to return, without giving a reason
