Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2: enclosed chamber
Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2 is a CoreXY 3D printer with an enclosed chamber, a 350 °C nozzle and a HEPA filter with activated carbon, printing at speeds up to 500 mm/s. The build volume is 256 x 256 x 256 mm and the bed heats up to 110 °C, so besides PLA and PETG you can print ABS, ASA, PC and PA.
You control the printer from a 5-inch touchscreen, and you send files over WiFi or transfer them on the USB flash drive included in the set. The built-in camera and LED lighting let you check on the print in the ELEGOO Matrix app, and the version with the CANVAS system for 4-color printing is available as Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2 Combo.

What sets this model apart
Chamber with HEPA filter and 350 °C nozzle
Centauri Carbon 2 keeps the 256 mm build volume and the speed of up to 500 mm/s of the previous Centauri Carbon, but the nozzle heats up to 350 °C, the chamber has an automatic exhaust vent, and the filter combines HEPA with activated carbon. Keep in mind that this version prints in a single color, and for 4-color printing choose Centauri Carbon 2 Combo right away, with the CANVAS system included in the set.

Automatic calibration before printing
The printer measures the bed at 121 points, and the partial leveling function checks only the area where the print will be made. The automatic Z offset sets the nozzle height above the plate, which determines first layer adhesion, so you do not adjust it by hand.
Active vibration compensation detects and dampens resonances that leave ripples on the walls, and Pressure Advance calibration matches the filament flow to the toolhead speed. The Z axis is guided by 3 lead screws and 3 linear rails, and a semi-automatic tensioner keeps the belts at the right tension.
350 °C nozzle and chamber with exhaust vent
The brass nozzle with a hardened steel tip heats up to 350 °C, and the heat break, the element separating the hot zone from the cool one, is made of titanium alloy. The enclosed chamber with an automatically controlled vent maintains a temperature suited to the material, which reduces warping and cracking of prints.
The manufacturer lists PLA, PETG, TPU and PLA-CF as ideal materials, and ABS, ASA, PET, PETG-CF, PC and PA, along with their carbon fiber variants, as very well supported. The supported list also includes PPS and fiber-reinforced PPS and PPA, and the double-sided spring steel plate has a textured PEI side and a side for PLA.

CoreXY 500 mm/s on a cast frame
Two 4260 stepper motors independently drive the X and Y axes, and low-friction metal linear rails move the toolhead at speeds up to 500 mm/s with acceleration up to 20,000 mm/s². The recommended print speed is 250 mm/s, and the default acceleration is 10,000 mm/s².
The integrated frame and cast aluminum base reduce vibrations during fast printing. Print accuracy is ±0.1 mm, and you can set the layer height from 0.1 mm to 0.4 mm, with the manufacturer recommending 0.2 mm.

18 sensors and camera view
The manufacturer states that 18 sensors monitor the print, including detection of nozzle clogs, filament runout, cutter status and the exhaust vent. The printer also checks the fans, warns when the part cooling fan is disconnected, protects the bed from overheating and resumes printing after a power loss.
The built-in camera and LED lighting let you follow the print in the ELEGOO Matrix app, which notifies you about the printer status in real time, also when you are away from home. From the app you can remotely start a print and browse thousands of free models.

Quiet operation and HEPA filter with carbon
In quiet mode the printer runs at up to 45 dB, and quiet drivers power all axes, so it suits a shared room at home and an office. The composite filter combines HEPA with activated carbon made from coconut shells and captures ultrafine particles, volatile organic compounds and odors.
Through the glass door with an anti-shatter film you can see the print without opening the chamber. The magnetic toolhead cover makes nozzle replacement easier, and the silicone wiper resistant to 350 °C removes filament residue from the nozzle.
ElegooSlicer and the Nexprint library
You prepare models in ElegooSlicer, and the printer also accepts files from Orca and Cura. The program loads STL, OBJ, 3MF and STEP files, so you can open a project from a CAD system without conversion, and the printer receives ready G-code.
The Nexprint library lets you browse and download ready-made models and then transfer them to ElegooSlicer with one click. On the 260 x 260 mm build plate you can fit one large model or several smaller parts in a single job.

45 dB measured in Elegoo Lab
The manufacturer measured the noise level of up to 45 dB in the Elegoo Lab laboratory with Elegoo PLA filament in quiet mode, with the auxiliary part cooling fan turned off. The previous Centauri Carbon has a value of up to 50 dB in the manufacturer's table.

Frequently asked questions
Can it print nylon and PC?
Yes. The manufacturer lists PA and PC among the very well supported materials, because the nozzle heats up to 350 °C, the bed up to 110 °C, and the chamber is enclosed.
Does it print in multiple colors?
Not in this version, because the set does not include the CANVAS system. The printer supports CANVAS for 4 colors, and the Centauri Carbon 2 Combo version includes it in the set.
Does the older CANVAS fit?
No. CANVAS for the first Centauri Carbon is compatible only with that printer. Centauri Carbon 2 supports the CANVAS version for the Centauri Carbon 2 and Centauri 2 series.
How does it differ from Centauri 2?
Centauri Carbon 2 has an enclosed chamber, a camera, LED lighting and a HEPA filter with carbon. Centauri 2 is an open frame for PLA, PETG, PLA-CF and TPU, lighter by 3.8 kg.
Which slicers does it support?
The manufacturer recommends ElegooSlicer, and Orca and Cura are also supported. The program accepts STL, OBJ, 3MF and STEP files, and the printer receives G-code.
