Five heads and an enclosure with HEPA filter

Original Prusa XL+ with five heads is the second generation of the large format Prusa 3D printer with an automatic tool changer and a 360 x 360 x 360 mm build volume. The changer parks one toolhead and picks up the next one with its own material, and the 46.7 l build volume fits large parts in one piece or a whole series of smaller models on one bed.

Five heads, each with its own nozzle and its own filament, let you combine rigid, flexible and soluble materials in one job, and a toolhead change takes only a few seconds.

The package includes the new Enclosure for Prusa XL+ with a 99.9% efficient HEPA filter, which keeps the chamber at up to 50 °C. The version without it is Prusa XL+ 5 heads.

What sets this model apart

Five hot heads instead of purging a single nozzle

Parked toolheads stay heated, so a material change takes only a few seconds and needs no wipe tower or nozzle purging, which according to the manufacturer saves kilograms of filament over longer runs. Please keep in mind that with five 2 kg spools on the sides the printer takes up about 700 x 900 x 720 mm, so prepare a stable, wide workbench for it in advance.

Five materials in one print

Each of the five heads has its own material, so in one job you combine a rigid material with flexible TPU and soluble supports. With five 2 kg spools, the printer runs for several days, and the Spool Join function switches to the next spool when the previous one runs out.

  • Up to 10 kg of filament with no spool changes during printing
  • Expensive composite (e.g. PCCF) on the surface, cheaper PETG in the infill
  • Colorful models with no wipe tower and no purge waste
  • Nozzles from 0.25 mm for details to 0.8 mm for fast infill in one job

Prusa XL+ and the new generation of Prusa printers

Botland is a reseller of Prusa 3D printers in Poland. Buying from us means original equipment from a warehouse inside the country and fast technical support. We also offer a professional service in Poland and original spare parts.

Pin-free calibration and smoother walls

In the first Prusa XL, toolheads were aligned by hand with a mechanical pin. The XL+ measures toolhead offsets with an electronic sensor, and the first layer is calibrated by the Loadcell sensor, which uses the nozzle as a probe, so you do not set the nozzle-to-bed distance.

  • 1.5 mm GT belts reduce fine, repeating patterns on large smooth walls
  • New toolhead cooling improves overhangs, and extra fans cool the electronics
  • A wiper cleans each nozzle before printing
  • Printing is 10-15% faster than on the Prusa XL, also thanks to the new 1.5 mm GT belts

Enclosure with HEPA filter included

The Enclosure for Prusa XL+ puts the printer in a stable, enclosed environment: it protects the print from drafts, which cause warping on large parts in ASA, ABS or nylon. Thanks to better sealing, the bed alone heats the chamber up to 50 °C, without an additional heater.

  • A HEPA filter with 99.9% efficiency traps ultrafine particles and reduces odor
  • The printer screen controls filtration and the LEDs and shows chamber temperature
  • A folding magnetic cover at the front improves airflow when printing PLA and PETG
  • The enclosure has a metal frame and Plexiglas panels and reduces noise

Large prints on an ordinary workbench

The bed consists of 16 separately controlled heating zones, so the printer heats only the zones under the print, which limits warping and energy use for small models. Despite the 360 mm build volume in every axis, the XL+ fits on an ordinary workbench and draws 235 W on average when printing with PETG from a standard outlet, with no three-phase installation.

  • Fully offline operation: slicing, printing and firmware updates without a cloud account
  • Ethernet as standard, and the WiFi module can be physically removed
  • Open source firmware and the free PrusaSlicer
  • Any 1.75 mm filament, with no chips and no subscriptions

Is it the right choice for you?

A good choice if you:

  • print multi-material or in color every day and zero waste matters to you
  • want to print for several days without a break from five 2 kg spools
  • print large parts in ASA or ABS and want an enclosure with HEPA filtration right away

Fun fact

Five heads with no wipe tower

In the XL+ every filament has its own toolhead, so according to Prusa the printer can do true multi-material printing without a purge or wipe tower. The tower is on by default, but you can turn it off.

Frequently asked questions

How does XL+ differ from XL?

The XL+ has automatic toolhead offset calibration with a sensor instead of a pin, new cooling, a nozzle wiper and 1.5 mm GT belts, and it prints 10-15% faster. The build volume, tool changer and materials are unchanged.

What is the XL+ build volume?

The build volume is 360 x 360 x 360 mm (46.7 l), about 3 times more than in the CORE One+ and 1.5 times more than in the CORE One L+, for large one-piece parts.

Prusa XL+ or CORE One L+?

The CORE One L+ is an enclosed single-nozzle printer with a build volume of about 30 l. The XL+ has over 50% more, 46.7 l, and up to five toolheads in one job, so it suits the largest parts and multi-material printing better.

What if the filament runs out?

Each head has a filament sensor. The printer pauses the print and waits for a new spool, and with the Spool Join function it automatically switches to the next loaded spool, so you can use up to 10 kg of filament unattended.

Which enclosure is included?

The package includes the new Enclosure for Prusa XL+ with a 99.9% HEPA filter, an LED strip and a folding front cover. Thanks to better sealing, the bed alone heats the chamber to 50 °C, without an additional heater.

Is a cloud account required?

No. The printer works fully offline: slicing in PrusaSlicer, printing and firmware updates do not require the internet. Remote monitoring via Prusa Connect is optional.
