ZigBee motion sensor with battery included
Sonoff SNZB-03P is an infrared (PIR) motion sensor with ZigBee 3.0 connectivity that detects motion at a distance of up to 6 m and within a 110° angle. It detects motion after just 5 s, and together with a ZigBee gateway and an automation set up in the app it can, for example, turn on the light in a hallway or on the stairs.
With a Sonoff gateway the sensor also recognises the lighting conditions (light or dark), so scenes can be triggered only in the dark. According to the manufacturer, the CR2477 battery included in the set should last over 3 years. You can mount the base with a magnet, 3M tape or screws. ZigBee scenes run locally, even without internet access.

Did you know?
Infrared does not pass through glass
A PIR sensor detects changes in the infrared radiation of a warm body. Glass, acrylic and walls block this radiation, so the SNZB-03P will not notice motion behind a window.

Frequently asked questions
Will it detect pets?
Yes. The sensor reacts to heat, so a pet will trigger it too. The manufacturer advises tilting it slightly upwards to avoid the area near the floor.
Can I install it outdoors?
No. The SNZB-03P is not waterproof. It works only indoors, at temperatures from -10 °C to 60 °C and humidity from 5 % to 95 %, non-condensing.
Does it work with Home Assistant?
Yes. The sensor is recognized by Zigbee2MQTT and ZHA, and for ZHA the manufacturer provides a script to download. It also works with Alexa and SmartThings.
