Some of the most important parameters are the place and method of mounting the thermometer, the measurement range and measurement accuracy, the power supply method, possible communication with external receivers (if the device is to become part of a larger system or be operated remotely) and additional functions. The installation location is directly related to the planned use - if the device is to measure the temperature outside the building, it must be equipped with a measurement probe that is long enough and resistant to difficult weather conditions. The measurement range for this type of devices is usually from -50°C to 100°C, which is completely sufficient for use indoors or outdoors, while the measurement accuracy is usually ±1°C. Some thermometers enable communication with other devices, for example via WiFi - then the user can check the readings using a phone or computer from anywhere in the world.
