Product description: U1V10F5 - 5V 1.2A step-up converter - Polol 2564.

A controller that increases the voltage from 0.5 to 5.5 V to a fixed 5 V value. When 5 V is exceeded at the input, the system automatically switches torope mode of the voltage reducing regulator. The efficiency of the inverter is 70 - 90 % depending on the specified input voltage. To protect against overheating, the module switches off automatically when its temperature exceeds 140°C. Wealso offer a version withanoutputvoltageof 3.3 V.

System efficiency

Efficiency is defined as the ratio of output power to input power (Power out)/(Power in). This is a very important parameter when working with portable energysources(batteries and accumulators), where the time of operation on one charging cycle counts. The efficiency of this pulse system is about 70 % - 90 %. The output current depends on the input voltage, details on the diagram:

Dangerous voltage pulses

When connecting the power supply to the module, dangerous, short, high amplitude eclectic impulses (so-called pins) may appear, which may permanently damage the system. Polol's tests show that for input voltage above 4.5 V, the pins may have an amplitude high enough to damage the module. In order to protect against this unwanted phenomenon it is recommended to solder a capacitor of at least 33 uF as close as possible to the pins powering the converter.

I've been using Pololu boost converters for several years and this model is my absolute favorite! 🥰🥰🥰 This module is also available for an output voltage of 3.3V and together with this 5V version, many projects can be operated with batteries between a minimum of 0.5V and 5.5V. Due to the very small design, this voltage regulator fits on any project board, no matter how small. The price is a bit higher than comparable cheap regulators, but the voltage converters from Pololu at least keep to their specified parameters and 1.2A is quite a bit for this mini module. There are only a few boost converters on the market that start with an input voltage of 0.5V, this is due to the high-quality converter TPS61202 from Texas Instruments used.
