ESP32-CAM module with 2 Mpx camera
Joy-IT SBC-ESP32-Cam is a module with a dual-core ESP32 160 MHz processor, an OV2640 2 Mpx camera, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity and a memory card slot. It also has 4 MB of PSRAM, 32 Mbit of flash memory, a built-in antenna and a bright LED for illumination. You can save images to the card or send them over the network to a web server.

The LED shares a pin with the card
On the ESP32-CAM module the flash LED is connected to pin IO4, which is also a data line of the memory card. The manufacturer lists this in the pinout description, so you can easily plan when to use the flash.
Frequently asked questions
How do I program the ESP32-CAM?
The module has no USB, so you connect it through a USB-UART converter. To upload a program, you connect pin IO0 to ground and in the Arduino IDE you select the AI Thinker ESP32-CAM board.
What memory card does it support?
The slot supports memory cards with a capacity of up to 4 GB. A card is not included, so choose one separately.
How much current does it draw?
The manufacturer states 180 mA without the flash and 310 mA with the LED at full brightness. In deep sleep mode the module draws 6 mA.
