reComputer Robotics J4012 is an AI computer with Jetson Orin NX 16 GB that runs from a 19 V to 54 V battery and connects to drives over CAN, a motor and sensor network. The module delivers 157 TOPS, or 157 trillion AI operations per second, in Super mode, which is unlocked by the preinstalled JetPack 6.2 (NVIDIA's system and AI library package).
The aluminum fan-cooled case has 6 USB 3.2 Type-A ports, 2 Ethernet 1 Gb/s ports, UART and I2C connectors, and M.2 slots for a WiFi module and a 5G modem. The system is already on the 128 GB NVMe drive, so you can start right away with ROS 2, a popular robot programming framework, and NVIDIA Isaac tools. If you need GMSL2 cameras, which carry video and power over a single coaxial cable, choose the reComputer Robotics J4012 with GMSL2 board.

What sets this model apart
19 V to 54 V power and two CAN buses in one computer
You connect the Robotics J4012 directly to the robot battery and to motor controllers, with no separate converter or CAN adapter, because power and the CAN0 bus run through the same XT30(2+2) connector. Keep in mind that this model has no HDMI and no MIPI CSI connectors for ribbon-cable cameras, so for desktop work with a monitor and such cameras a computer from the reComputer Super series is a better fit.

reComputer Robotics J4012 - port panel with USB, Ethernet and CAN
Robot connectors in one place
The CAN0 bus runs through two XT30(2+2) connectors, plugs with two power contacts and two CAN contacts, so a single cable brings both power and data. CAN1 has three GH 1.25 mm connectors, and both buses support CAN FD, a CAN variant with longer frames and faster data transfer.
You connect a monitor to the USB Type-C port with DisplayPort 1.4 output. The M.2 Key B slot takes a 5G modem with a SIM card, and the M.2 Key E slot takes a WiFi and Bluetooth module. For sensors you get a UART connector, e.g. for a LiDAR scanner, and two I2C connectors, and the second Ethernet port is handy for a network camera or a controller.

Power and CAN in one plug
The XT30(2+2) connector carries 19 V to 54 V power and the CAN0 bus at the same time, and the two such sockets on the case are wired in parallel. This lets you route power and CAN on to the next device in the robot without a separate splitter.
Frequently asked questions
Is a power supply included?
No. The set includes an XT30 - DC 5.5 / 2.5 mm jack cable, for which the manufacturer recommends a 19 V / 4.74 A power supply. In a robot you power the computer directly from a battery with a voltage from 19 V to 54 V.
How do I connect a monitor?
The USB Type-C port working as a host has a DisplayPort 1.4 output, so you can connect a monitor with a USB Type-C input to it. For an HDMI monitor you need a USB Type-C - HDMI adapter.
Can I connect GMSL2 cameras?
Yes, but only with the GMSL2 expansion board, which comes in the reComputer Robotics J4012 with GMSL2 version. This version supports cameras such as SG3S-ISX031C-GMSL2F, SG2-AR0233C-5200-G2A and the Orbbec Gemini 335Lg 3D camera.
How many CAN buses does it have?
The computer has two CAN buses. CAN0 is brought out together with power on two XT30(2+2) connectors, and CAN1 on three GH 1.25 mm connectors. Both buses support CAN FD.
Can I add WiFi or 5G?
Yes. You install a WiFi and Bluetooth module in the M.2 Key E slot and a 5G modem in the M.2 Key B slot next to the SIM card slot. The modules are not included.
Can I install JetPack 7.2 instead of the factory system?
Yes. JetPack 6.2 comes preinstalled on the drive, and you can download the JetPack 7.2 image from the manufacturer's wiki and install it yourself. To reinstall the system you need a computer with Ubuntu and the USB Type-A - USB Type-C cable from the set.
