Raspberry Pi Carbon Removal Credit - offset the CO2 emissions associated with the production of your Raspberry Pi

In the natural weathering process of rocks, rain combines with CO2 to form carbonic acid . When it falls on mountains, forests or meadows, the CO2 reacts with the rocks and soil, mineralizing and safely storing as carbonate. This process removes a billion tons of CO2 from the atmosphere each year.

The “Enhanced Rock Weathering” process used in the Raspberry Pi Carbon Removal Credit project uses crushed basalt , a type of volcanic rock. Basalt is rich in silicate minerals that react with carbon dioxide (CO₂) in the atmosphere, and this process helps remove CO2 from the air by mineralizing it and permanently storing it as carbonates. Basalt is particularly suitable for this purpose because it is readily available worldwide and its structure allows it to accelerate the natural weathering process.

Raspberry Pi supports the removal of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere by offering the Raspberry Pi Carbon Removal Credit . Every credit purchased supports the UNDO organization . By purchasing the card, customers can offset their carbon emissions, which is created during the production, transportation and disposal of Raspberry Pi boards. As part of this process, Raspberry Pi purchases 6 kg of carbon offset credits from UNDO , which removes this amount of CO2 from the atmosphere. By investing in this initiative, Raspberry Pi is not only providing users with technology, but also engaging them in actions for sustainable development and combating climate change.
