Joy-IT SBC-RFID-RC522 is a module with an NXP MFRC522 chip that reads and writes Mifare 13.56 MHz RFID tags, and the set includes a card and a key fob for testing. The module communicates over SPI and works with a 3.3 V supply and logic. The manufacturer provides libraries for Arduino, Raspberry Pi, micro:bit and Raspberry Pi Pico.

Good choice if:

Fun fact
Extension for micro:bit
Joy-IT prepared the rfid-mfrc522 extension for the MakeCode editor, thanks to which you can use the module on a micro:bit with blocks. For the Raspberry Pi the manufacturer provides its own MFRC522 library in Python.

Can I connect it to an Arduino Uno?
Yes, but the module works with 3.3 V logic and the Arduino Uno with 5 V logic. The manufacturer recommends reducing the voltage of all data lines with a logic level converter.
What tags does the module support?
The module works at 13.56 MHz and supports Mifare tags. The set includes a card and a key fob for your first tests.
Will it write data to the card?
Yes, the module reads and writes RFID tags. For Arduino you use the MFRC522 library, and for Raspberry Pi the library from Joy-IT.
