The Neptune 4 extruder utilizes a dual direct drive with a 5.2:1 gear ratio. This design helps grip the filament stably and feed it to the hotend without jerking. This is important for flexible materials, longer print runs, and faster printer operation. Even filament feeding reduces the risk of extrusion interruptions, underfilled walls, and model surface issues.
The Elegoo Neptune 4 module is designed to work with a nozzle that reaches temperatures up to 300°C. This allows printing not only with basic filaments but also with more demanding materials. The design incorporates a copper and titanium thermal pipe, which aids in temperature control and reduces the risk of nozzle clogging during operation.

It's perfect for repairing the filament feed system, upgrading the printer, or restoring it to full functionality after a mechanical failure or hotend issue.
The Neptune 4 Plus and Neptune 4 Max extruder features a dual direct drive with a 5.2:1 gear ratio. Stainless steel gears guide the filament steadily and help maintain a consistent material flow.
The kit includes a hotend with a titanium alloy heat pipe, a ceramic heating element, and a brass heating block. This design supports rapid filament melting and stable operation at higher temperatures. The extruder reaches temperatures up to 300°C, allowing it to work with PLA, PETG, TPU, ABS, and nylon.
Stable filament feeding and hotend cooling
The extruder directly impacts print quality. It's responsible for ensuring that filament reaches the hotend at a consistent rate and with the correct pressure. A worn or damaged mechanism can result in material loss, filament skipping, jams, stringing, or uneven layers. Replacing the entire module can mitigate these issues and restore the extrusion system's proper operation.
Our store offers Elegoo extruders with dual direct drive. Direct drive works well with flexible filaments because the material path to the nozzle is shorter than with Bowden systems. This makes it easier to control material feed, retraction, and the printer's response to speed changes.

Their task is to maintain the hotend's operating temperature and cool the print during layering. Efficient cooling helps reduce material overheating, nozzle clogging, and model detail issues.
When to replace the Elegoo extruder?
An extruder replacement may be necessary if the printer begins to feed filament inconsistently, loses material during operation, or frequently clogs the nozzle despite correct temperature settings. Other signs of wear include a characteristic clicking sound from the drive, signs of filament abrasion, TPU issues, or gaps in the material paths. In such situations, it's worth checking the condition of the feed mechanism, hotend, and cooling system.
