Steady 12 V from up to 36 V on a board smaller than a postage stamp

Pololu D24V7F12 is a synchronous step-down regulator that turns an input voltage of 12.2 to 36 V into a steady 12 V and delivers up to 600 mA. The board measures 8.6 x 13.7 mm and weighs 0.5 g, so it fits in a small enclosure, and the three pins at 2.54 mm pitch fit a breadboard.

You can power low-power 12 V LED strips, 12 V fans, modules and relays with a 12 V coil supplied from a 24 V installation from it. The 600 mA current is available at any combination of input and output voltage, and with no load the regulator draws less than 0.01 mA, so it works well in battery-powered devices.

A good choice for you?

A good choice if:

  • you need a steady 12 V from a battery, rechargeable battery or power supply up to 36 V
  • your circuit draws up to 600 mA
  • small size and low idle current draw matter

Frequently asked questions

Can I power the regulator from a 12 V battery?

Not fully. The regulator needs at least 12.2 V at the input, and a discharged 12 V battery has less. It works better with an 18-24 V supply.

Will the regulator survive a short circuit on the output?

Yes, it has short-circuit and thermal protection. However, it does not protect against reversed power connection at the input.

Are pins included?

No. The regulator is supplied without header strips, but you can solder on straight pins, right-angle pins or wires directly.
