Voltage surges
When applying power to the module, the initial current can cause dangerous voltage spikes that are significantly higher than the input voltage. Pololu's research has determined that for input voltages above 9V, the spikes can have amplitudes large enough to damage the module. To protect against this undesirable phenomenon, it is recommended to solder a capacitor of at least 33uF as close as possible to the converter's power pins.
