The Arducam B0182 camera module, equipped with a Sony IMX219 optical sensor and a fisheye lens, was designed according to the hardware specifications of a standard V2 camera for the Raspberry Pi minicomputer. Image focus is controlled by software, in a hands-free manner, but can also be manually controlled using buttons. The Arducam B0182 camera can be successfully used in applications such as remotely operated vehicles, drones, macro photography rails, and industrial monitoring systems. The manufacturer provides software code that also enables autofocus mode when the camera is paired with an NVIDIA Jetson Nano computer.
Fisheye lens - wide field of view and interesting visual effects
The Sony IMX219 camera uses a fisheye lens, which offers a much wider viewing angle than traditional wide-angle lenses. Another significant design difference is the degree of image distortion. Standard wide-angle lenses capture images with negligible distortion. A fisheye lens, on the other hand, creates a rounded image, creating the illusion of space being curved. This makes the Sony IMX219 mini camera ideal for nature photography and extreme sports.
