Textured PEI plate for the Snapmaker U1 3D printer
PEI Steel Plate (Textured) is a flexible stainless steel build plate with a textured PEI coating that you place on the magnetic bed of the Snapmaker U1 3D printer. The same plate comes with the printer, so this one works as a spare or as a second plate to swap between prints.
The PEI coating (polyetherimide) gives good first-layer adhesion and reduces warping of prints. Its fine texture gives model bottoms an even finish for prints where the overall look matters.
- Once the plate has cooled, you flex it slightly and the print comes off without a scraper
- You print PLA, TPU, PVA, PEBA and PET-CF without glue
- For PETG, ABS, ASA, PC and PA the manufacturer recommends a glue stick or liquid glue

Fun fact
PEI works on heated and unheated beds
PEI, or polyetherimide, is a durable build surface used in 3D printing on both heated and unheated beds. It holds many filaments well without glue or other preparation, and it also resists high temperatures and wear. To keep good first-layer adhesion, Snapmaker recommends washing the textured plate with warm water and dish soap every 5 to 10 prints.
Frequently asked questions
Is this plate the same as the one supplied with the U1?
Yes. The manufacturer states that the Snapmaker U1 comes with one textured PEI plate, so this plate works as a spare or as a second plate to swap between prints.
How do I remove a print?
Wait until the plate cools to room temperature, remove it from the printer and flex it slightly to release the print. If a TPU model sticks too firmly, apply alcohol around the contact area and do not pry the model off by force.
How do I clean the textured PEI plate?
Every 5 to 10 prints, wash the plate with warm water and dish soap, ideally with a sponge that also cleans the texture recesses. Do not use acetone or abrasive tools such as steel wool, as they damage the PEI coating.
