Description: S18V20ALV - step-up/step-down converter - adjustable 4-12V 2A
The inverter has awide input voltage: from 2.9 to 32 V. The output is regulated by a potentiometer from 4 to 12 V. With an efficiency of 80 - 90 % and a highcurrent capacity of up to 2 A, the systems are used in many circuits supplying electronic projects and devices.
Included: module, 2.54 mm goldpin connectors and ARK connectors for self soldering.
Battery power supply
The ability to raise or lower the input voltage to a fixed value makes the modules well suited for battery-powered devices. The voltage of portable power sources, such as accumulators and batteries, depends on their level of charge. The inverter system allows you to stabilize the voltage at a selected level.

The module has four outputs:
- VIN-Input voltage from 2.9 V - 32 V. If a lower voltage is applied, the module will not switch on, higher voltage may damage the system.
- GND- Mass potential. The system has two GND outputs, which are connected to each other.
- VOUT- Output voltage regulated by a potentiometer: from 4 to 12 V.
- ENABLE- switching on the system. By default, the module is switched on - the ENABLE pin is pulled to the power supply through a100 kresistor. In order to switch the inverter into the sleep state (low current consumption), the low state must be given, voltage below 0.7 V. The current in the sleep state is determined by the pull-up resistor of the ENABLE pin, it is from 10 to 20 uF for each Volt of the supply voltage. (for example, for 3 V supply it will be 30 uA, 30 V - about 500 uF).If the sleep function is not used, the ENABLE pin can be left disconnected.

The connectors are properly signed on the board. The set includes 2.54 mm goldpin raster connectors and larger ARK connectors, which allow to mount cables with a screwdriver.
The module can be plugged intoa contact board, connected withwires or solderedinto a dedicated printed circuit board. Mounting is possible with four 2.2 mm diameter holes, matching the ratio of M2 threaded screws - the holes are not threaded.
Output voltage selection
The voltage is set using a potentiometer. When using a potentiometer, select a value from the permitted range of 4 V to 12 V.
System efficiency
Efficiency is defined as the ratio of input power to output power (Pout/Pin). This parameter is particularly important for battery operation when it is important to keep the system running as long as possible on a single charge. The efficiency of the inverter depends on the flowing current and the input voltage (graph below). On average, it is between 80 - 90 %, which allows the maximum use of battery power.
The efficiency of the system as a function of the current drawn for different input voltages, with the output voltage setto 5 V.
System efficiency as a function of current input for different input voltages, with output voltage set to6 V.
System efficiency as a function of current input for different input voltages, with output voltage set to9 V.
System efficiency as a function of current input for different input voltages, with output voltage set to24V.
Output current
The maximum current that the system can deliverdependson: input voltage and operating temperature. The dependence of the maximum current consumption on the input voltage is shown in the figure below. If the operating temperature reaches too high a value, the module will automatically disconnect the power supply.
The output current depends on the input voltage for different output voltages.
