Description of product: SparkFun Alphanumeric Display - alphanumeric display - red - Qwiic - SparkFun COM-16916
Alphanumeric display , based on the VK16K33 controller. It uses the bi-directional I2C bus for communication. Built-in Qwiic connectors make it easy to connect the product without soldering. The module consists of quadruple 14 segments, illuminated in red . Additionally, the display has a colon and a decimal point.
The product is compatible with Arduino. The manufacturer has prepared a user manual and a library for the display.

Qwiic system
Qwiic SparkFun is an ecosystem that includes a wide selection of sensors and electronic components based on the I2C communication bus and connected via dedicated cables . The main assumption of this solution is to facilitate the prototyping process. All elements supporting the Qwiic standard use a common, 4-pin JST connector with a pitch of 1 mm. This reduces the amount of space required on the PCB and does not require soldering. It also protects against connection inconsistent with the polarity.
The output of the module
The module, in addition to two Qwiic connectors, has the I2C bus terminals in the form of solder pads:
- C (SCL) - clock line of the I2C bus
- D (SDA) - data line of the I2C bus
- 3 (3.3 V) - powered module
- G (GND) - the ground of the system
There are also two jumpers on the printed board, marked with symbols A0 and A1 . They enable the selection of the I2C address ( default 0x70 , configurable: 0x71, 0x72, 0x73). For details on configuration, see the user manual .
