What does SMA mean?
The SMA (or Sub-Miniature A) connector has an impedance of 50 Ω and can handle frequencies up to 17 GHz. They are small enough for most consumer applications and use a threaded housing to create strong mechanical connections. For performance above 26.5 GHz, other connectors are usually used, although somewhat similar to SMA. SMA male connectors have a center pin and internal threads, while SMA female connectors have a central sleeve and external threads. SMA connectors are typically used for GPS and cellular signal connections, although they are used in other RTV applications.
SMA - U.FL adapter - nomenclature and connection
SMA - U.FL female adapters are irreplaceable when connecting 2.4 GHz antennas to target devices. Depending on geographical location, they are also referred to as uFL, UFL, u.FL sockets, as well as IPX or AM connectors. All these terms are interchangeable.
