Switch the power on and off with one button
Pololu Mini Pushbutton Power Switch LV is a solid-state power switch controlled by a momentary button: one press turns the power on, the next turns it off. The load current does not flow through the button but through MOSFET transistors, so a small button controls a current of up to about 6 A. The switch also has built-in reverse power protection.
The LV version works from 2.2 V, so you can power a device from a single lithium cell. The button is already on the board, and you can connect external buttons to the A and B pins. The ON, OFF and CTRL inputs let a microcontroller turn off the power by itself, e.g. when the battery is already discharged.

Frequently asked questions
Can I connect several buttons?
Yes. You connect external momentary buttons in parallel to the A and B pins, and each of them switches the power on and off. The manufacturer also describes how to connect a button that only switches on or only switches off.
Can the microcontroller turn off the power by itself?
Yes. A short pulse on the OFF or CTRL input turns the power off, and a pulse on ON turns it on. The manufacturer recommends pulses, not a constant high state.
What is the difference between the LV and SV versions?
The LV version works from 2.2 V to 16 V and delivers more current at low voltage. The SV version works from 4.5 V to 32 V, but it will not work from a single lithium cell.
