Aqara E1: Zigbee 3.0 radiator thermostat with LCD
Aqara Smart Radiator Thermostat E1 is a thermostatic head for water radiators powered by two AA batteries, which you fit onto the valve without running any cables. It fits valves with an M30 x 1.5 mm thread, and the three adapters included in the box match it to RA, RAV and RAVL type valves. You can mount the head on the valve either horizontally or vertically.
The thermostat works on its own: you set the temperature with the knob and read it on the LCD screen. Once added to the Aqara Home app via an Aqara Zigbee 3.0 hub, you get control from your phone and an intelligent schedule. When you open a window, the thermostat detects it on its own and turns the heating off. Optional Aqara sensors, sold separately and not included in the set, make it even better: the Temperature and Humidity Sensor makes the control more accurate, and the Door and Window Sensor detects an open window more accurately.

Is it a good choice for you?

Fun fact
A year on one set of batteries
According to Aqara, two AA batteries can power the E1 for up to a year. This is thanks to the efficient Zigbee 3.0 protocol and hardware, while the actual battery life depends on how often the head adjusts the temperature. A low battery icon on the screen reminds you when to replace them, and you use only alkaline AA batteries, as rechargeable ones are not allowed.

Frequently asked questions
Does the E1 work without a hub?
Yes. Without a hub you set the temperature with the knob and read it on the LCD screen. An Aqara Zigbee 3.0 hub is needed for the Aqara Home app and a schedule.
Will the E1 thermostat fit my valve?
The head has an M30 x 1.5 mm thread, and the box includes three adapters for RA, RAV and RAVL valves. Before buying, check the thread or the valve type on your radiator.
Can I mount the thermostat vertically?
Yes, the manufacturer allows both horizontal and vertical mounting. In vertical mounting the built-in sensor is closer to the radiator and may read too high, which is why an external Aqara sensor improves control accuracy.
