Power supplies are devices whose task is to match the available voltage to the requirements of the equipment being powered. There are many possibilities to change the size of the voltage, which allows to distinguish several basic types of power supplies. Among them there are linear, pulsed and stabilized power supplies. Many power supplies have a parameter adjustment function, so they can be adjusted to the specific equipment and used with more than one. These are universal power supplies with wide application. When it comes to power supplies, which are characterized by current parameter control, they are used mainly in laboratories. There they are used for prototyping. In domestic devices, in turn, socket power supplies are commonly used. If we are looking for a power supply for a LED strip, the best choice will be a mounting power supply. All these models are available in Botland shops. We offer a wide range of products, among which are car, emergency and industrial power supplies, as well as power strips and water generators.

Power supply – basic information
Our offer includes a wide selection of power supplies - depending on the target device, they have different output current parameters and require different conditions. The selection of the power supply should always be adjusted to the current requirements of the device it will power. You should pay special attention not only to the power of the power supply, but also to the voltage range. Devices with too low an input voltage will not properly power the connected equipment. The efficiency of the power supply and its type, and in fact its purpose (e.g. computer power supply, desktop power supply or office computer power supply) are also extremely important.
Types of power supplies
Laboratory power supplies are the most universal. These devices are very helpful tools in robotics and electronics work. They allow you to adjust the appropriate voltage parameters to the devices you are currently building or, for example, during calibration, repairs or learning. They are usually equipped with a standard fan ensuring the appropriate level of cooling, as well as modular cabling.
A similar group are function generators, which are characterized by the ability to generate current waveforms with a specific function shape - for example, rectangular, sawtooth or sinusoidal. They are used either in technical universities, for analog sensors, for testing circuits, integrated circuits or for scientific research.
Plug-in power supplies are products tailored to their target devices. They are characterized by easy connection to a wall socket and an appropriate plug for connection to equipment.
How to choose a power supply? When choosing a specific model, pay special attention to the appropriate voltage and current parameters and to the appropriate plug at the end of the cable. Power supplies from this category are most often used for development boards (such as Raspberry Pi or Arduino ). In addition, the device must not have an input voltage that is too low.
What else do we offer?
Our offer also includes mounting power supplies - most of the products are intended for use with LED strips, which are often used in modern types of home or office lighting. We also offer DIN rail power supplies for use both in industry and at home or office.
UPS emergency power supplies allow for the safe use of equipment that could be damaged as a result of a sudden power outage or as a result of changes in parameters (for example, desktop computers). ATX power supplies are tools with a wide range of applications, but they are most often used in desktop computers to supply voltage of various parameters to various components (including the graphics card). We offer computer power supplies (PC power supplies) with high efficiency.
The remaining range of categories
In the "Cables and adapters" subcategory you will find a large selection of various types of cables of various lengths and many different adapters. We also have power strips and extension cords that will make it easier for you to control a larger number of connected devices at the same time.
Also check out the offer of power generators, thanks to which you will be able to, for example, recover energy from your tap. You will also find car chargers with single and multiple USB sockets or, for example, phone stands with inductive charging function.
Power supplies - FAQ
The power supply is designed to supply electricity to other devices - e.g. a computer, audio amplifier or LED lighting . The basic parameters of each power supply are the type and value of the output voltage, the maximum output current and the permissible load power.
In the case of constant voltage power supplies the basic test is to measure the voltage at the device's output - it should be within the range specified by the manufacturer in the power supply documentation. However, please remember that in the case of some serious damage, connecting an "unknown" power supply to the network may cause a short circuit in the electrical installation.
Desktop computers use the so-called ATX power supplies – solid switching power supplies with a power of several hundred watts, available in housings of standardized sizes. Desktop power supplies are intended for laptops, equipped with a specific type of plug or a set of interchangeable plugs, compatible with computers of various manufacturers.
The switching power supply uses a special electronic controller that lowers the output voltage by appropriately and quickly switching the voltage of the primary winding of a special transformer . Increasing the frequency not only reduces the size of the transformer, but also significantly increases the efficiency of the power supply (at the price of a higher level of noise).
