LED strings, chains, matrices
Building a LED matrix by hand is certainly an ambitious project with a high risk of errors. First of all, it involves soldering individual diodes and resistors together, then connecting them into rows and columns to form an LED matrix and connecting a control system to them in the form of, for example, a microcontroller programmed for this purpose. Such assembly is very time-consuming, but you can easily bypass this process thanks to ready matrices and LED strips offered by Botland shop. In our offer you will also find the necessary accessories such as power modules and drivers for LED strips and matrices.

How is an LED string constructed?
A single chain of LEDs is usually approximately 10 mm wide and up to 5 m long. Its structure allows for cutting between the diodes that constitute its cells. The LEDs are distributed along the chain, usually 50 to 120 LEDs for each meter. The color and quality of individual diodes influence the visual lighting effect of the LED chain. On the other side of the chain there is pre-glued double-sided tape - after removing it, you can stick the chain of LEDs on any surface. Since the electrical circuit of the LED chain is flexible, it also allows installation on uneven surfaces with an irregular structure. A similar construction technology is characterized by a multi-color LED matrix, to which you only need to connect one microcontroller output to control it. Addressable LED strip allows you to diversify lighting effects, including: in decoration elements.
Power supply and connection of LED lighting
LED strips and matrices most often require a 5V DC power supply, but there are also modules that can be powered with 3V or 12V. For this purpose, the simplest solution will be a 230V power supply. When selecting a power supply, you need to pay attention to its current capacity, so that it is large enough for the planned number of diodes in the powered matrix or LED strip. One way to connect LED strips is daisy chaining, which means that each piece of LED strip must be connected directly to a power source or another piece of LEDs that is connected to a power source. This connection method depends on the geometry of the wires and the shape of the connectors in the LED strip and the shape of the power supply output plug - if you like soldering, this will be the most flexible and cheapest installation method. However, if you do not want to use a soldering iron, you can use connectors that allow you to connect LED lighting modules and power sources without the need for soldering.
LED chains and matrices - FAQ
An LED matrix is a display made of light-emitting diodes (LEDs). This term also applies to liquid crystal matrices illuminated with LED diodes.
An IPS matrix is a type of liquid crystal matrix in which the crystals are arranged parallel to the screen surface. Both IPS, VA and TN matrices can have LED backlighting.
In everyday language, these terms are used interchangeably, but the correct name for the element that displays the image is display.
The cost of a TV matrix depends on the device model and can range from several hundred zlotys to even several thousand.
