Rotary switches - FAQ
A rotary switch is a specific type of switch that has several or a dozen states. The state is changed by rotating, for example, 30 degrees. The lifespan of rotary switches is defined by the manufacturer as the minimum number of switches (usually from several to several thousand switches). Rotary switches differ not only in contact resistance and the number of states, but also in electrical parameters and thread. The Botland store's assortment includes rotary switches that do not close during switching.
When choosing a specific rotary switch model, first of all, pay attention to the number of states, the number of circuits, pins and electrical parameters (voltage and current) for alternating and direct current. Other important factors determining the choice of a rotary switch are contact resistance, service life, i.e. the minimum number of switches declared by the manufacturer, rotation angle enabling one position change, thread type and physical dimensions. It is also worth paying attention to the material from which the switch is made (plastic or metal).
Rotary switches are used, among others, in household appliances (ovens and gas stoves). Another application is car ignitions, various types of industrial machines and control panels. Additionally, rotary switches are used in many DIY projects. Additionally, we encourage you to check out the electronic and digital switches category.
